Summer of 2014…….what’s on your to do list this summer? Perhaps some late nights by the fire-pit roasting marshmallows (we love to have pie irons, especially pizza ones), maybe it’s canoeing down the river, or one of our favorites skiing, or just sitting on your deck and enjoying the pool……blog us and let us know what you like to do in the summer months.
Want to enjoy the outside while the weather is nice but escape the bugs? Well, we can solve that problem for you. Featured is a screened in sunroom where you can sit outside, enjoy the summer and not get eaten alive and if its raining you can enjoy the rain without getting wet.
This week’s feature is a pergola. As you can see our customer here had a vision for their pergola. The pergola became a nice shaded area by having vines grow up and around the pergola giving a nice shaded area to sit and relax. So what’s your vision? Let us help you create your vision.
It amazes me how much money is spent in advertising, like this website, it’s not cheap to set up a website, but it needs to be done in order to get your name out there in the cyber world. However, it is my experience that the best form of advertising are your customers. We have now been in business for about 9 years, and no matter what kind of advertising we have done whether it be flyers, road sides or our website, our loyal customers are our best advertising. This is why we believe in quality workmanship and customer care because we know that in the end a happy customer means more business. This brings me to my featured project for this week which happens to be a composite deck with white aluminum rails. This is a project that was done about 8 years ago and whom has called us to do another project for them. So this week I want to say a “BIG THANK YOU” to our loyal customers, because without you we wouldn’t be where we are today.
Canada Day, a day of celebration….a day to be thankful for the country that we live in….a day to celebrate living in a country that gives freedom. How do we celebrate this day? Many are at the cottage or camping or spending the day at the beach. Many will be getting together for a BBQ. And many will be relaxing in the comfort of their own home, on their deck lounging. Which brings me to my featured project….a deck built with a pergola providing shade and a place to hang your hammock for you to relax, take an afternoon nap or read a book.
Allow me to share with you one of the little things that we do. Believe it or not decks have accessories too. We will quite often make use of every piece of material we have because we don’t want to waste. These left over pieces material are great because they allow us to make things like benches or planters. My feature today is a cedar planter.
Finally the weather has warmed up. The grass is turning green, trees are budding, perennials are peeking their way through, everyone is rushing to the greenhouses to purchase their plants, yard work has begun and so have outside projects. Our first project of the season was a deck with two levels. The upper deck just coming off the patio doors, great area for the BBQ, the lower deck for lounging. The lower deck features a herring-bone with picture frame, just to add some pizzaz.
Well, I think it’s time to share a recipe that I have discovered. Isn’t internet amazing because of internet, social networking etc I have been able to make new discoveries….like recipes. Not only do we at Silverfox Enterprises enjoying creating something out of wood with our hands BUT we like to create amazing foods with our hands. So to kick off our season I am going to share with you a very yummy dessert AND the best part….it’s healthy! Feast your eyes on a Watermelon cake. It’s very easy to make. All you need is a large seedless watermelon, strawberries, kiwi, blackberries, toasted sliced almonds, 2 cans of coconut milk, honey and vanilla. So start by placing the coconut milk in the fridge for at least 6 hours so that the cream rises to the top. Next, take your watermelon, slice the ends off and then cut the rind off, careful, you want to make it look like a cake, you may have to slice a little of the watermelon off to make it look either a nice round cake or square cake. Wash the rest of your fruit, hull the strawberries and slice them and the kiwi. Now take the coconut mild, slightly open the bottom of the can to drain out the milk, scrape cream into bowl, add 1 tbsp. honey, and 1 tsp of vanilla. Whip til thick. Spread whipped coconut milk over top of watermelon, then decorate with almonds and remaining fruit. Enjoy! You’ll definitely have the “Wow” factor at your party on the deck!
